Frequently asked questions

What happens when an inspection item fails?
It is raised as a finding against the asset, with its photo, the inspector's remark and a severity. The finding stays open on the findings list until someone resolves it, and maintenance can open a work order from it in one step, so the fix is linked to the check that found the problem.
Does an inspection record where the asset was?
Yes. The inspector picks the location where they found the asset, and can record who was operating it and the meter reading. If this is the latest record of where the asset was, its location in the register is updated too. An inspection typed up later never moves the asset back.
Will an asset we have never inspected show up as overdue?
No. An asset's first inspection cycle is measured from when it arrived or was registered, so adding a hundred assets on day one does not create a hundred overdue inspections. It becomes due only when a full interval has passed without an inspection.
Is there a printed inspection record?
Yes. Each completed inspection produces a signed PDF with every answer, photo and finding, ready to file or hand to an auditor. Findings can also be printed one per A4 sheet, for a notice board in the workshop. Solmex keeps the records; certification stays with you.
Can I build an inspection checklist for heavy equipment?
Yes. You build a checklist template for each type of equipment, such as an excavator, a loader or a truck, and set how often it is due by calendar or by meter, in run hours or kilometres. The operator or inspector then runs it from a phone at the machine, with photos, and a failed item is raised as a finding.
Which plan includes inspections?
