Frequently asked questions

What problem does a tool register solve?
It answers who has what, and since when. Each tool is assigned to one person, team or location at a time, and both the hand-out and the return are recorded. When a tool goes missing, the last holder is on the record, and the history stays even after that person leaves.
Does Solmex track calibration?
Yes. Mark a tool as needing calibration and enter its last calibration and due dates. Solmex works out the status from the due date every time you look: current, due within 30 days, or overdue. You can filter the register to see only the tools that need attention.
Is a tool the same thing as an asset?
No, and they are kept apart on purpose. An asset is a machine you maintain and cost, with service plans, meters and work orders. A tool is something you hand out and get back. Attachments that carry their own service history belong in the asset register instead.
Which plan includes tool tracking?
