Without a tracker, a machine moves on the map when someone records seeing it: an inspection, a fill-up, a greasing round or a logged location. With a tracker, GPS positions do it. Every marker shows how old its information is, and a machine in an area you have not drawn is listed as not placed, never hidden.
Use a site layout image, or import a KMZ or KML file and the placemarks become your areas, matched to the locations you already have. Areas are outlines or points with a radius. A street map sits underneath plans that have no drawing of their own.
Any tracker platform can post positions to Solmex with an API key, and supported tracking platforms can be connected directly so Solmex fetches positions itself, with suggested matches between tracker units and your asset numbers for a person to confirm. A position inside an area moves the machine there. A position outside every area is drawn as a pin and is never snapped to the nearest one.
Switch on overlays to see where the overdue services, open breakdowns and blocked work orders are standing. Filter by equipment type, group, department or status, give each equipment type its own icon, and replay the plan as it stood at any past moment.
No. Without trackers a machine is placed by the last record that saw it: an inspection, a fuel entry, a routine maintenance round or a location somebody logged. The newest sighting wins, so a record typed up late never moves a machine backwards. Trackers add continuous positions on top of that.
Any platform or device gateway that can send an HTTP request can post positions to the Solmex positions endpoint with an API key you create in settings. For supported tracking platforms Solmex can fetch positions itself, once a minute; tell us which system you use in your demo.
They are stated for what they are. Distance is straight lines between GPS positions, so it is shown as at least that much. A stop is the machine staying within 40 metres for five minutes, which is not the same as engine off. A gap of more than fifteen minutes is drawn dashed as no signal and counts as neither distance nor time.
